WHERE TO PLANT: Choose a spot with 4+ hours of sun per day. The more the better! Wildflowers can grow in nearly any soil - even a spot that is already supporting growth of some sort - they will adapt! These wildflowers are beautiful AND tough!

WHEN TO PLANT: Spring planting can begin as soon as there is no chance of frost, and the soil is at least 55 degrees. Summer planting is possible, but keep an eye on hot temps and protect your little plants as needed. Fall planting can be done after the first killing frost, and will inspire earlier sprouts and blooms. Store seeds in an airtight container until ready to plant. The fridge is TOO humid for wildflower seeds.

SOIL PREPERATION: Remove all existing growth and old roots. Very deep tilling may bring old “weeds” to the surface, till only as deeply as needed. You want optimal space for your seeds roots to grow, with as little competing “weed” growth as possible. Wildflower seeds don’t need fertilizer! It will boost your flowers, but it will also boost any lingering “weeds”.

SOW YOUR SEEDS: Sow your seeds as soon as your space is cleared! This will give your seeds the best chance to outgrow any unwanted vegetation. Sow by hand or crank seed sower - for good even coverage, divide your seed into two equal parts and add clean play sand to each part. (6-10 parts sand to 1 part seed)
Once sown, compress the seeds so they make good contact with the soil, but DO NOT cover them with soil! Wildflowers germinate on top of soil, unlike veggie seeds. Use your foot, lawn roller, or lay down a board and walk on it. If you are planting on a slope or feel you need to protect your seed from hard rain, cover with a light layer of straw.
Keep your flower bed moist (not soaking wet) until seedlings are 6-8” tall. They will be self sufficient after this size, but may need a watering during low rain periods.

SEED INFO: These seeds are non-gmo and neonicotinoid free. The seed mix includes annuals, perennials, and biennials. The annuals will bloom the year they are planted, and if the seed falls on bare ground, will reseed themselves. The perennials and biennials will bloom their second year, and will likey reseed themselves!
