They are responsible for an estimated 1.69 BILLION pounds of waste per year, globally.
Some in landfills. Some on our sidewalks and streets, littering our beaches and parks, harming the wildlife in our communities and oceans, collecting on our festival grounds and outside our community shops and watering holes.
TerraCycle has a mission to combat that, with recycling!

HOW IT WORKS
The Butts For Buttons Headquarters (our booth) is where we collect all cigarette waste from patrons and conduct the collection contest! (Contests are customized for your specific event, with help from your merch, vendors, musicians, and our sponsors). We're happy to incentivize positive chage to create lasting habits.
Along with spreading the word, Soulight Rising will set up cigarette collection stations all around your event space. They are signed and have solar lights for night time safety and use. We regularly check these containers and tidy the areas, and encourage contest participants to collect from them, too!
The long term goal at Butts For Buttons is to spread the word about TerraCycle's cigarette waste recycling program. (As well as the other recycling options they offer!) Anyone 21+ can sign up and receive free printable shipping labels to mail in their collected cigarette butts and waste at home.

It is my hope to raise awareness of the impact we can have on our environment. It is here that we can inspire change to keep our beautiful Earth clean, and keep the butts off the ground and out of landfills.

After volunteering to stay behind many at events and help pick up trash, consisting largely of cigarette waste, I knew something had to change.
To protect the earth, to create mindful habits, to help keep our places of gathering clean and open to our return. We collectively are responsible for leaving no trace.
